    Description

    Turn a 2.5" HDD/SSD into a USM compatible USB 3.0 enclosure. The S2510U33USM USM enclosure enables you to insert a 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD into any USM host interface including the StarTech.com S2510U33RUSM 5.25" USM bay, and Seagate GoFlex devices. To ensure you get the most from your SATA III drive, the enclosure supports transfer speeds up to 6.0 Gbps.USM (Universal Storage Module) is a portable drive standard that interfaces with SATA and enables you to hot-swap drives between multiple host devices, such as PCs, notebooks, DVRs and many others.Using the included USM to USB 3.0 adapter the enclosure can also be connected externally to non-USM host devices via USB. Plus, with support for UASP, the enclosure performs up to 70% faster than conventional USB when paired with a UASP-enabled host controller to utilize the full potential of your SATA III hard drives.To ensure compatibility with your computer system, the S2510U33USM supports all of the leading operating systems, including: Microsoft Windows (8/7/Vista/XP/Server 2008/Server 2003), Apple OSX (10.9/10.8/10.7/10.6), Linux, and Google Chrome OS.UASP is supported in Windows 8, Mac (OSX 10.8 or above), and Linux. In testing UASP performs with a 70% faster read speed and 40% faster write speed over traditional USB 3.0 at peak performance.At the same peak in testing UASP also shows an 80% reduction in required processor resources.Testing results were obtained using an Intel Ivy Bridge system, a UASP enabled StarTech.com enclosure, and a SATA III solid state drive.
